We often assume that once we succeed in something then everything else falls back. Success is both an addiction and a trap. The bridge between how to stay motivated and gaining success consciousness is thin and narrow. Once we settle for success then we end up in an autopilot mode. We forget the essence of our being in the process of becoming successful. All the steps we took in reaching the focal point suddenly vanish. To be conscious while succeeding and successful takes huge effort.
What we seek in life defines our purpose. Consciousness leads to enlightenment. But how we remain conscious is pressing. After I separated from my brother in 1999, there were a couple of challenges I faced at Jaipur Rugs. Though I had been successful in creating a good name in carpet weaving, I didn’t know how to handle success, a sudden void crept into my organization.
How to manage a successful business?
Later I realised, the reason for the void was my omnipresence. There wasn’t anywhere I wasn’t seen. Many will now think what is wrong in that. But by being present everywhere I was restricting others and their light ended up as a shadow. I forgot that, to bring a change and I should allow the change to process. For that I should give my employees a space to grow and voice their opinion.
As successful entrepreneurs, we often forget to remove ourselves when the time demands. For natural growth to occur we should melt ourselves and become like water so that we absorb individual wisdom and capabilities to nurture the seed that’s growing.
Consciousness and introspection are two elements that contribute in sowing worthy seeds of enlightenment in sustaining a business. It taught me how to manage a successful business. A false feeling of goodness is what blinded my vision back then.
Success consciousness
On the basis of the philosophy ‘Finding yourself through losing yourself’ we at Jaipur Rugs started the initiative of the Higher school of unlearning. After hiring the professionals for the rapid development of the organization I learnt that ‘Knowledge without practice develops ego’, this was a breakthrough, a conscious understanding I gained. Therefore, I made the professionals work with the uneducated managers. This in turn helped them in gaining rural wisdom and understanding. As a result a lot of mutual respect flowed in.
So today, I want to leave you with a thought. How do you manage success in your business? Do you define your success by your bank balance or the number of accolades received ? Will you keep seeking irrespective of reaching the pinnacle of success.
For I believe, nothing fails you like success. A successful man is always thrown to himself in the end. It is consciousness and introspection that leads him to the right direction. Keep seeking and build your success like the blocks in a jigsaw puzzle. Once you find the answer, move on to the next one, instead of sitting on it and allowing it to spread on you like a weed.
